During a lively discussion between two northern prodigies, it became apparent that there was a lack of information that is easily accessible online.
Both dreamed of a lavish lifestyle, but believed that work should be fun, exiting and stimulating above all other factors. They agreed that enjoying what they did would bring great riches.
Both ‘likely lads’ recently searched for a qualification that allowed them to start the journey towards being a member of a professional body, where an active interest in the type of work fuelled their inquisitive natures. After dramatically emphasising the time spent searching, they both realised that a clear pathway towards the dream job was missing from many vocations. This led to a discussion about how individuals searching for the most efficient, inexpensive, and insightful route to become qualified needed a clear solution based on their goals.
Quite often the wealth of information available is not only confusing, but it contradicts itself in places too. This may lead to people choosing the wrong career path or spending time and money on a qualification that either is not needed or not the most suitable for their ultimate career aims and ambitions.
The lightbulb moment occurred when the brighter of the two colleagues suggested that a ‘knowledge directory’ could be created that linked candidates to the most suitable options for their career aspirations. This would include the places to get further advice, potential work experience placements and even access to funding if it is available.
The Knowledge Directory was born.
The conversation became increasingly lively. Realising that they both had similar ambitions and understanding of how life worked, they decided that working together to benefit others was what they wanted to do. The realisation that so many businesses had the sole aim of profit for their owners, drove a burning ambition to create a business that’s primary goal was to benefit its customers (soppy, I know, but these two had hearts as well as heads).
They knew that along with career aims there are often people that require additional skills without the need for formal qualification. After all, there are many examples of ways in which courses and seminars have changed people’s lives scattered throughout the internet.
The better looking of the two suggested a concept where people could learn expertise from others in a ‘pocket-friendly’ pay as you go manner. The objective would be to enrich, not be rich. This would also allow experts to interact with those wishing to learn from them by providing advice relating to the most current topics. This meant that those with enviable talents could share their passion with others to enhance the lives of so many people.
